On separate ways - Part 5

David's shoe rushed towards Amelia. She couldn't believe that her boyfriend was about to kill her. In the very last moment, her survival instinct took over and she jumped aside. Amelia hurried to get away from David. Luckily, he didn't pursue her and Amelia made it to the shelter of one of the palm trees.
Amelia took several deep breaths. She couldn't expect any help from David. Martha would surely help her, but Amelia wasn't sure how she could communicate with Martha. Besides, she hadn't seen her since David returned from Paris. But who else could she ask for help? The only person around that Amelia trusted was Babette, who was currently working at the reception desk. When the coast was clear, Amelia rushed towards the receptions and climbed on the desk, while Babette sorted some mail into the pigeon holes.

When Babette turned around, she shrieked, seeing a mouse standing on the keybord of the reception's computer. What puzzled her even more was the fact that the mouse had actually typed something on the computer screen.

Help! I'm Amelia.

"What's going on here?" Babette asked.

I was transformed into a mouse, the rodent typed.

"Am I going crazy?" Babette thought. "But how have you been transformed?" she then asked.

By a Djinn. Svetlana has one.

"I can't believe that!" Babette said. "People transformed into mice by Djinns? That's hard to belief."

Last winter, you, me, Martha and David went to the Christmas Market in town.

"True. We went there with Amelia." Babette still wasn't sure that this mouse was Amelia. "We went there alone."

No. Your former mate Jeb was with us. But you soon left him after he did his deed.

First Babette turned red, then her face turned sour. "Alright! You are Amelia. You're as cheeky as her. But what do you want from me?"

I want to be human again.

"How can I turn you into a human again?" Babette asked.

You need a djinn and then make a wish.

"Are there even more genies in the hotel?" Babette was more and more astonished by the mouse's tale.

There are two oil lamps in the lobby. Each contains a genie. One is Martha's.

"There WERE two lamps, but now no lamp is in the lobby. Sami's lamp has been stolen. And if Martha is a genie, David must have taken her lamp to Paris. He must still have her lamp." Babette deduced. "We shall explain everything to him. He will summon Martha and turn you back into Amelia."

NO!wrote the mouse.

"Why not? I thought David is your boyfriend."

I have my reasons. I'll tell you later.

"But without a genie, you're stuck as a mouse." Babette reasoned.

I know where Sami's lamp is.

"You know? Tell me."

The lamp is in Svetlana's room.

"Alright. I can have a break in 30 Minutes. Then we will go to her room and get the lamp."

30 Minutes later, Babette had used her key card to open Svetlana's room. With Amelia sitting on her shoulder, Babette rushed in. The room was tiny but neat. But there was no oil lamp. Suddenly, Babette and Amelia heard steps in the floor. "Quick. You keep looking, I'll buy us some time." Babette said and rushed out of the room. She just managed to close the door before Svetlana came around the corner.
