Description

The City Arms of Rodgau.

The silver band in the middle represents the river Rodgau, which connects the five parts of the city. The five stars stand for the five villages, that make up the city: Weißkirchen, Hainhausen, Jügesheim, Dudenhofen and Nieder-Roden.

The silver rose with red heart and black cross is a so called "Lutherrose". It's a symbol of the Lutheran Church and represents the history of Dudenhofen, which was the only protestant village surrounded by catholic villages.

The silver wagonwheel on red ground stands for the Archbishopric of Mainz. The four catholic villages of Weißkirchen, Hainhausen, Jügesheim and Nieder-Roden orginally belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz.

In 1977, the five villages merged and formed large-scale comunity of Rodgau. In 1979, Rodgau received the city rights and this coat of arms.
