Description

Background:

In november 1918, revolting workers and soldiers forced Kaiser Wilhelm II to resigen. On November 9th 1918, the German Republic was declared.

But instead of removing the military of the Kaiserreich from power, which had caused the defeat in World War I, the SPD allied with the military to crush a communist rebellion against the new republic.

Thus, the military kept it's power and influence also during the Weimar Republic. From 1933, the military could serve Hitler as a big support on his way to power.

What Lenin thought about the Novemberrevolution, he tells us himself in the last panel.

Its not that unlikely, here in Ireland during our 1916 Rising and revolution one of the rebel officers pulled over a Dublin City tram and as his armed men occupied the seats he went over to the conductor, took out his wallet and said "thirty one way tickets for Dublin City Centre please".  He actually insisted on paying.

The same happened later during the fighting when Padraig Pearse the rebel commander sent runners out to get supplies from local shop owners who were either paid in whatever cash that could be raised or I.O.U's issued by the rebels with the promise that the bill would be settled by the Irish Provisional government.
